Avast Decryption Tools: Stampado helps victims of ransomware attacks recover their files without paying a ransom to hackers. The tool can unlock files encrypted by the BianLian ransomware strain that targeted multiple high-profile organizations this summer. The company says the decryptor is a work in progress, and that support for more strains will be added soon.
To use the tool, first identify the ransomware that infected your computer. Then, go to the No More Ransom Project website and use its search bar to find a decryptor for it. The site will display a list of available decryptors, but some may not be compatible with your ransomware version or the encryption scheme it uses.
Once you’ve found a decryptor for your ransomware, follow the instructions to install and run it on your computer. If you’re having trouble, you can always contact the developers of the decryptor or a third-party security firm for help.
Avast has released a dedicated decryptor for the TargetCompany ransomware that recently hit victims in Ukraine. This application allows users to decrypt their files without having to pay a ransom, but it requires that they have access to the original file and another uninfected one of the same type. This way, the app can compare the original and encrypted versions to crack a password that will grant them access to the locked data. The tool can be downloaded from the company’s website and used on any Windows machine.
